SUNFLOWERS FOR  UKRAINE

ARTISTS –SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE
Escondido Art Association will use its Rotation Program wall at the Escondido Library to display sunflower paintings from April 9th through April 30th . The sunflower is a symbol of happiness, optimism, longevity, and peace. It is also the national flower of Ukraine. This wall of sunflower paintings represents a collective effort by members of the Escondido Art Association to express our profound sadness at what is currently happening in Ukraine. We hope the beauty found here will inspire and encourage the viewer to reach out and support the people of Ukraine. You will find a partial list of Ukraine relief organizations next to this exhibit. The paintings on this wall are for sale and can be purchased by contacting the Escondido Art Association. All proceeds from the sale except for sales tax will be donated to World Central Kitchen which is currently providing meal preparation for displaced Ukrainians. We wish the people of Ukraine happiness, optimism, longevity, and most of all peace. Contact: Escondido Art Association, The Artists Gallery
442-317-0980. [email protected]

Escondido Art Association is a
non-profit, 501 c 3 organization. Donations are tax deductible.

RELIEF FUNDS FOR UKRAINE

There are numerous charities providing humanitarian aid to Ukrainians, both within Ukraine and in neighboring countries to which over 3.5 million people have fled in the month since the Russian invasion began. Charities are providing various types of aid such as, medical services, medical supplies, food, clothing, basic survival supplies, and direct cash support to refugees. It’s highly recommended that you check a charity’s ratings on charitynavigator.org or charitywatch.org before donating. These charity-monitoring organizations also provide helpful lists categorizing charities by the type of aid provided. Here are some we found:

Website: globalempowermentmission.org/  Global Empowerment Mission: Provides refugees with train or plane tickets so that they can reach family or friends in Europe.

Website: unicefusa.org  UNICEF USA: Providing children with safe water, nutrition, medical care, education and protection.

Website: help.rescue.org  International Rescue Committee: On the ground in Poland providing displaced children and families with food, medical care and emergency support services.

Website: mercycorps.org  Mercy Corps: On the ground in Ukraine, Poland and Romania providing funding to local organizations that know their community needs best and working to meet urgent humanitarian needs. They also plan to provide emergency cash assistance and connect people on the move with information, such as where to access basic services, information on safe routes, and their legal rights.

Website: wck.org  World Central Kitchen as founded by Chef Jose’ Andre’s and his wife in 2010 in the aftermath of the Haitian earthquake, World Central Kitchen provides training and support to mobilize local restaurants/food services to provide meals for people in areas impacted by natural disasters, climate change and civil conflicts. In the Ukrainian conflict, World Central Kitchen is on the ground organizing meal preparation for thousands of displaced Ukrainians. World Central Kitchen has received a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator and very high marks for financial performance and accountability/transparency.
